Who is still using Debabelizer, Photogif, Animagic, Boxtop ... ?
We can even wonder if we still need to use the Gif format while Macromedia Flash software offers the same result in 16 millions colors with the interactivity in addition.
Gif still suits for little animations. 3 softwares are included in my system and reinstalled at each new PC initialization.
I'M WORKING WITH :
- HVS COLOR GIF 2.0 Photoshop plugin
Without it, this site would be less nice. it offers the best color reducing. It's unable to convert a movie but on a single image, i never found a software able to do better. This product came in 1998, it is no more released by Digital Frontiers and is no more available for dowloading from their server. You can easily find it, try a search in google with "cg20wu.zip".
Very efficient, the button shading gives you 2 options "more" or "less", to take more or less care of your colors degrades.
- ULEAD GIF ANIMATOR 5
You need this tool if you want to convert a 16 millions colors movie into a 256 colors animated gif. in this product, you still find an option "minimum variance" which takes care of your degrades or not.
- GIF MOVIEGEAR 4
To watch and quickly edit animated gifs. no brain work. it's my favorite gif reader. It is not enough powerfull to ask it to do any reducing color job but perfect for me in all other tasks.
